THE COGGEVITY™ ADVANCED BRAIN NUTRITION STORY

The story behind CogGevity starts with company founder Dr. Keith Black, a world-renowned neurosurgeon and Chair of the Department of Neurology at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles.

After seeing his own mother’s struggle with memory problems as she aged, Dr. Black embarked on a personal mission to uncover the secret to maintaining healthy brain function with the goal of helping people minimize their risk of mild memory decline as they age.

Dr. Black assembled an elite group of expert neurologists and neuroscientists at prominent medical centers and preeminent science institutions to collaborate on the development of a supplement formula—based on the latest science—that could help support brain health over time.*

The result is CogGevity™ Advanced Brain Nutrition, a breakthrough formulation of 6 key ingredients, each of which has been shown in clinical research to have significant brain health benefits.*

Among CogGevity’s key ingredients is curcumin, a compound with antioxidant properties found in the root of the turmeric plant.* Curcumin is backed by robust science.

Importantly, CogGevity includes a highly-bioavailable form of curcumin (Longvida™ Optimized Curcumin††), which is absorbed into the bloodstream—this is critical, as only when curcumin gets properly absorbed can it get where it needs to go to combat against free radicals.

The complete formula of CogGevity™ Advanced Brain Nutrition can be found here.

Keith Black, MD, Founder

Chairman and Professor, Department of Neurosurgery, Director, Maxine Dunitz Neurosurgical Institute Ruth and Lawrence Harvey Chair in Neuroscience at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center

An internationally-renowned neurosurgeon and scientist, Dr. Black joined Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in July 1997. Prior to joining, he served on the UCLA faculty for 10 years where he was Professor of Neurosurgery. He serves on numerous editorial boards and has published more than 260 peer-reviewed scientific papers and his book Brain Surgeon: A Doctor’s Inspiring Encounters with Mortality and Miracles in 2009. Dr. Black has performed over 6,000 operations for resection of brain tumors and pioneered research in designing ways to open the blood-brain barrier, enabling chemotherapeutic drugs to be delivered directly into the tumor. Dr. Black’s personal experience during his mother’s battle with the effects of deteriorating brain health has inspired him to take a deeper dive into the state of brain health and longevity with experts from around the globe.

Kristen Willeumier, PhD, Neuroscientist-Advisor

Kristen Willeumier, PhD, is a neuroscientist with knowledge on how diet, lifestyle, nutrition and sports related concussions impact brain health and longevity. Dr. Willeumier served as the Director of Neuroimaging Research for the Amen Clinics from 2009-2016 exploring the role of brain SPECT imaging in clinical practice. She concurrently served as the Director of Nutrition and Nutraceuticals investigating the role of nutrients on brain function. She has co-authored 45 scientific manuscripts in peer reviewed journals. Areas of published research include traumatic brain injury, posttraumatic stress disorder, autism, biomarkers of suicide, obesity, gender differences in brain function, clinical outcomes, and brain rehabilitation. Together with colleagues, she led a clinical research trial investigating the long-term effects of repetitive subconcussive impacts in NFL football players. Subsequent work focused on therapeutic approaches to rehabilitate brain function in athletes (www.drwilleumier.com).

Dr. Willeumier conducted her graduate research in the laboratory of Neurophysiology at the University of California, Los Angeles and the laboratory of Neurogenetics at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center using live cell imaging to investigate mechanisms of synaptic signaling in Parkinson’s disease. She received MS degrees in Physiological science and Neurobiology and a PhD degree in Neurobiology from the University of California, Los Angeles. She was a post-doctoral fellow in the Department of Neurology at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center where she continued her work in the field of neurodegenerative disease. She was the recipient of the prestigious NIH fellowship from the National Institute of Mental Health to study the molecular mechanisms underlying Parkinson’s disease and has presented her work at national and international scientific meetings including the Society for Neuroscience, Gordon Conference and the World Brain Mapping Conference.
